Lou Blanco, Business Coach
Lourdes (Lou) is an information technology professional with extensive experience in the corporate world. For 23 years she worked for Procter & Gamble in North America, Latin America, Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa. With this vast international exposure, Lourdes has comprehensive experience doing business in different environments.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Lourdes graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a degree in industrial engineering, and moved to the United States to earn her masters degree in management engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She started her career working as a systems analyst at a manufacturing plant in New York City. To further her career she moved to the Cincinnati headquarters for Procter & Gamble, where she took on a position as a senior systems manager, implementing information systems throughout the Unites States. From there, Lourdes started her international journey, first to South America, where she spent ten years creating and growing businesses, and then on to Geneva, Switzerland, to work on the developing markets of Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Lourdes has years of experience running service businesses. While managing multi million dollar budgets, and serving thousands of customers, she kept her focus on delivering the bottom line profit. She also has experience in marketing, including concept development, identifying target groups, and consumer research. Her background in information technology also plays out in web marketing and in understanding how to do business on the Internet. Lourdes is a champion at coaching women on how to structure their thinking into actionable small steps. She has a natural talent for teaching, and is able to explain complex concepts in simple language.
Lourdes is a board member at Xavier University’s Management Information Department, and is a regular guest speaker for the MBA and undergraduate classes. She has also appeared on the University of Cincinnati radio and at several local high schools. Lourdes speaks three languages and is involved in international issues through her contribution to several global organizations: She is currently leading the Charity Interest Group for the Procter & Gamble international community, which raises funds for CARE (a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty.) She’s also the leader for the Latinas group of the Procter & Gamble international community. She is a trustee at the Seven Hills School Board, and a member of the Xavier University Mentorship Program. Lourdes also serves at the Drop Inn Center in Over the Rhine.
